I am Alicia Cesare

At the heart of my work is a deep desire to preserve what matters most: the quiet connection between horse and human, the rhythms of the land, and the stories rooted in rural and coastal living.

Saddled in Sustenance was born from this calling—to create timeless, artful imagery that honors the spirit of a life lived close to nature and closer still to the creatures we love.

I photograph with intention, reverence, and a belief that beauty is found in the everyday—the shared glance, the dusty field at golden hour, the stillness between heartbeats. Whether capturing an heirloom portrait, a wild pony along the coast, or a brand shaped by grit, my work is a celebration of connection and legacy.

Through this journey, I’m not just documenting—it’s about cultivating a life of freedom, creativity, and stewardship. A life where passion becomes provision, and artistry sustains both family and dream.

If your story is rooted in horses, heritage, or sustenance, I’d be honored to help you tell it—artfully, intentionally, and with heart. Let’s create something timeless together.

“It ain’t dying I’m talking about, it’s living. I doubt it matters where you die, but it matters where you live.”

– Robert Duvall as Gus McCrae in Lonesome Dove

My philosophy

I believe the most powerful photographs are the ones that feel honest, natural, and deeply connected

I believe the most meaningful images are not forced—they’re felt. The quiet moments between horse and human, the way light settles over a pasture at the end of the day, the stillness that exists when we slow down and simply be. My work is rooted in patience, presence, and respect for the animals, land, and people I photograph.

Photography, to me, is more than capturing what something looks like. It’s about honoring what it means. Horses carry stories of partnership and trust. Rural life carries rhythms of hard work, stewardship, and deep connection to the land. My goal is to preserve those stories honestly and artfully.

I approach every session with intention, allowing space for authenticity rather than chasing perfection. The result is imagery that feels natural, soulful, and enduring.

Because the photographs that matter most are the ones that still feel true years from now.
